TSRTC Introduces Zero Tickets for Women
Starting today, women can travel for free on RTC buses with the issuance of zero tickets, a move suggested by MD Sajjanar. To benefit from this initiative, women are advised to carry their identity cards, which they should present to conductors to obtain a zero ticket.
Implementation of TSRTC Zero Tickets
Officials have initiated the issuance of zero tickets under the Mahalakshmi scheme, effective after midnight on Thursday. This policy, facilitated by special software in ticket machines, was successfully trialed at Kushaiguda and Midhani city depots before being extended to all buses across the state.
Directive from TSRTC MD Sajjanar
MD Sajjanar has directed TSRTC officials to commence issuing zero tickets from Friday. The zero ticket, implemented for free women’s travel since December 9, contains details such as bus type, route, and journey information.
Zero Ticket Applicability to Festivals and Fairs
Beyond regular buses, TSRTC has extended the zero ticket initiative to festivals and fairs like Sankranti, Ugadi, Dussehra, Diwali, Christmas, Komuravelli, and Nagoba. This policy applies to women, girls, and transgenders across various bus categories, including special buses on weekends.
TSRTC Free Bus Service for Women in Telangana
Starting today, women desiring free travel on TSRTC buses must show their identity cards to receive a zero ticket. Previously, identity cards were not required for free travel in express and ordinary buses, and conductors recorded daily details of those traveling for free.
Mahalakshmi Scheme in Telangana
Under the Mahalakshmi scheme, the government now mandates presenting voter ID, Aadhaar card, or ration card to travel for free on buses. TSRTC officials emphasize that women must bring all three identity cards specified by the state government to qualify for free travel.
