The Meteorological Department has reported that rainfall is persisting in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Surface circulation continues in the regions surrounding Coastal Andhra and Yanam. This circulation is expected to remain active at an elevation between 3.1 km and 7.6 km above sea level.

  • Formation of Low Pressure: The Meteorological Department has forecasted that the surface circulation will intensify, leading to the formation of a low-pressure system in the west-central northwest Bay of Bengal by this morning.
  • Rainfall Predictions: Over the next three days, moderate rains are expected across the state, with heavy rains likely in certain areas. The department has issued an orange alert for Jayashankar Bhupalapally and Mulugu districts due to the anticipated heavy rainfall.

Areas of Concern

  • Districts with Expected Heavy Rains: Heavy rainfall is predicted for Adilabad, Komaram Bhim Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Mancherial, Jagityala, Rajanna Sirisilla, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts. The Meteorological Department expects heavy to very heavy rainfall, particularly in parts of North Telangana.

Recent Rainfall Data

  • Rainfall Statistics: As of yesterday, the average rainfall across the state was 2.6 cm. Notably, Nizamabad received the highest rainfall at 6.38 cm, followed by Siddipet with 5.47 cm, Medchal Malkajgiri with 4.3 cm, and Jogulamba Gadwala with 3.12 cm.
  • Statewide Rainfall: The state has experienced 40% more rainfall than normal. The average recorded rainfall is 83.64 cm, compared to the normal 59.77 cm.

The Meteorological Department has instructed district administrations to remain vigilant due to the expected heavy rainfall over the next few days. Residents are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions to mitigate the impact of the weather conditions.
