Telangana Chenetha Bima Scheme Launched in 2022
K Taraka Rama Rao, the Minister for Handlooms and Textiles, reiterated K Chandrashekar Rao’s (KCR’s) announcement regarding TS Chenetha Bhima, an insurance scheme for weavers similar to Rythu Bhima. Weavers in the state would be covered by this Telangana Chenetha Bima.

If the enrolled weaver dies from any cause, including natural causes, the insured amount of 5.00 Lakh INR (approx. INR 6928) is deposited into the designated nominee account within ten (10) days. Most of these bereaved families are resource poor handloom/power weavers and belong to weaker sections of society, so this scheme has a significant impact on their lives and livelihoods.
TS Chenetha Bima Scheme implementation
National Informatics Centre (NIC) developed Online Portals and MIS that are used to implement the TS Chenetha Bheema scheme. A unique feature of this scheme is that the nominee does not need to approach any office to settle the claim.
Data is collected by outreach officers in the event of a weaver’s death and submitted to the LIC on behalf of the weaver’s nominee. A transfer of the claimed amount would be made via RTGS into the nominee’s account.
