Why Electric Buses?
Currently, a significant portion of RTC’s buses are outdated. Despite this, the financial situation of RTC doesn’t allow for the purchase of new buses right now. To address this challenge, RTC has decided to opt for hiring new buses. But here’s the twist: they’re going electric! This decision stems from the rising fuel prices and the increasing focus on environmental conservation. With electric buses becoming more popular, RTC is taking the lead by planning to introduce them not just in air-conditioned (AC) services, but also in non-AC ones.
Collaboration with JBM Company
To realize this vision, RTC has partnered with JBM Company, based in Haryana, which will provide 500 electric buses. These buses will be rented on a per kilometer basis, meaning the payments will be based on the distance traveled by the buses. This strategic move is not just a step towards modernizing public transport but also a significant contribution to a greener environment.
