1. Initiative for New Ration Cards:
The Civil Supplies Department has commenced the process of issuing new ration cards and has opted to use the Meeseva platform for applications, maintaining continuity with past practices.
2. Software Updates and Application Changes:
In response to this initiative, significant changes are anticipated in the software governing application procedures and rules. The Civil Supplies Department has communicated with the National Informatics Center (NIC), overseeing the Meeseva software, to implement modifications. These adjustments aim to enable effective application filtering and ensure comprehensive information by linking the applicant’s Aadhaar and PAN card.
3. Stringent Application Scrutiny:
The updated software will now promptly reject applications exceeding norms in terms of properties, lands, and income. This marks a departure from the previous approach of accepting all applications and later filtering them through field inspections and a comprehensive software check. The current focus is on scrutinizing applications at the outset, setting a land limit of 3.5 acres.
4. Consideration of Additional Details:
Officials are contemplating cross-referencing new applications with Rythu Bandhu details, adding an extra layer of verification. The forthcoming rules and guidelines for new ration card applications are scheduled to be released on the 27th of this month.
5. Current State of Ration Cards:
Presently, the state has 90.40 lakh ration cards, benefiting 2.86 crore people, with approximately 10 lakh new applications in process. The government is actively working to grant new ration cards to these applicants.
