Revolutionary changes are happening in traditional industries, bringing new knowledge and technology. To support this, the Indian government launched the PM Vishwakarma Yojana on the 76th Independence Day. This scheme aims to improve the lives of Hindu communities by providing financial aid and training. Here, we’ll explain who is eligible and how to apply.
Eligibility Criteria
People from 18 different OBC castes are eligible for this scheme. These include traditional workers like carpenters, goldsmiths, idol makers, potters, and more.
Application Process
- Visit Meeseva or CSC Centers: Eligible individuals can apply at Meeseva or CSC centers.
- Required Documents: Applicants need to bring their Aadhaar Card, Ration Card, Caste Certificate, and Bank Pass Book.
- OBC Community: Only those from the OBC community are eligible.
- Age Requirement: Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- No Previous Loans: They should not have taken any previous loans.
- One Person per Household: Only one person per household can apply. If there are government employees in the household, you’re ineligible.
- Selection Process: After applying, candidates go through a three-stage screening and selection process.
- Training: Qualified candidates receive 15 days of training and a stipend of Rs 500 per day. They receive a certificate upon completing the training.
- Tool Purchase: Artisans receive Rs 15,000 to buy tools.
- Loan Details:
- The first installment of Rs 1 lakh is provided with a 5% interest rate. It must be repaid in 18 months.
- The second installment of Rs 2 lakh is provided, and it must be repaid within 30 months.
Benefits
It’s estimated that around 30 lakh families across the country will benefit from the PM Vishwakarma Yojana scheme.
