Pay Scale Update: Good News for Mepma and Serp Employees

Recently, significant changes have occurred in the pay scales of employees working in Mepma and Serp. This update affects a large number of workers and brings their salaries in line with those of government employees.

Effective Date
Starting from April 1, 2023, the new pay scale will be implemented for employees of Mepma and Serp. The government aims to ensure that the pay rates are similar to the existing minimum wages.

Protection of Minimum Wage
Employees within Mepma will have their current minimum wage preserved even after the new pay scale is applied. Similarly, the gross salary and allowances of Serp employees will remain intact.

Job Status and Benefits
Despite the pay scale changes, the job status of both SERP and MEPMA employees will stay the same. They will remain employees of the registered society and will not become government employees. Their ESI (Employee State Insurance) and PF (Provident Fund) benefits will also remain unaffected.

Future Hiring and Approvals
The order also stipulates that any new regular, contract, or outsourcing positions in Mepma must receive prior approval from the government.

Pay Scales for Mepma
In Mepma, government employee pay scales will be applied based on the specific roles. For instance, positions like Municipal Commissioner Grade-2 will correspond to State Mission Directors, Superintendent will align with District Mission Coordinators, and so on.

Pay Scales for Serp
For Serp employees, their pay scales will be matched with those of government employees based on their roles. This applies to positions like Mandal Union Community Coordinators, Office Subordinates, and Assistant Project Managers.

Recent Developments
Less than a year ago, Chief Minister KCR announced the impending implementation of the pay scale for Mepma employees. Concerns were raised regarding improper hiring practices by some Mepma officials, including the alleged hiring of their own relatives. Some critics argue that these individuals might benefit from the government’s latest decision.
