Swift Implementation of Guarantees
Just two days into power, the Congress government already delivered on two promises – the Free Bus Scheme for women and an increase in the Arogya Sree card limit to Rs. 15 lakhs. Latest reports suggest Revant Sarkar is aiming to provide a monthly allowance of Rs. 2,500 to women.
Budget Allocation and Mahalakshmi Guarantee
There’s a possibility of funds being allocated in the budget for this scheme, estimated to require Rs. 10 thousand crores annually. The scheme, part of the Mahalakshmi Guarantee, is anticipated to be implemented before the MP election notification.
Criteria for Beneficiaries
While the Telangana government works on the Mahalakshmi scheme, it appears it will benefit only one woman per family based on the ration card. Notably, government employees, taxpayers, and women whose husbands paid taxes or filed GST returns may not be eligible. An official announcement is expected soon, and political experts believe its implementation before Parliament elections could be advantageous for the Congress party.
