Introduction:
The Central Government has introduced the ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ system, allowing people to avail ration from any state in the country. If you don’t have a ration card yet, here’s how you can easily apply for it.
Requirements for Ration Card:
- Indian Citizenship: Applicants must be Indian citizens.
- No Other State Ration Card: Individuals should not possess ration cards from other states.
- Age Criteria: Applicants must be 18 years old. If below 18, the card will be issued in the parents’ name.
- No Duplicate Entries: No family member should be named in another ration card.
Required Documents:
Voter ID, Aadhaar Card, Passport, Government-issued ID, Driving License, along with other proofs like income, home address, gas connection, electricity bill, bank statement, or rent agreement are necessary.
Application Process:
- Visit State Website: Go to your state’s ‘One Nation One Ration’ card website.
- Submit Details: Provide necessary details and documents for verification.
- Link with Aadhaar: Ration card will be linked with Aadhaar for transparency.
- No New Card: Existing ration cardholders need not apply for a new card.

- Install: Download and install the app on your mobile phone.
- Access Services: Use the app to avail ration services conveniently.
Benefits of One Nation One Ration Card Scheme:
- Nationwide Access: Families can benefit from the scheme across the country since June 1, 2020.
- Migrant Worker Support: People moving for employment can access subsidized food grains anywhere in the country using their existing ration card.
- Transparency: Eligible beneficiaries can purchase food grains transparently from any Public Distribution System (PDS) shop.
- Continuation of Old Ration Card: Existing ration cards remain valid even after the new scheme’s implementation.
