Progress on Interim Allowance Implementation:
Chief Minister KCR is taking steps to put the interim allowance into effect for employees and pensioners. He has already discussed the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) and Industrial Relations (IR) in the Legislative Assembly.
Report Prepared for PRC Appointment:
Authorities have prepared a report for appointing the PRC. A meeting with trade unions is anticipated soon to decide on the PRC appointment alongside the interim allowance. Positive signs indicate progress.
Meeting Planned with Trade Unions:
The Telangana government is speeding up the process for establishing the second Wage Revision Committee. CM KCR is expected to meet with union leaders within the next week. The announcement regarding PRC appointment will take place during this meeting. The assembly election schedule is expected to be issued in October. After the PRC appointment, CM KCR is focused on announcing the interim allowance, although this might take some time due to study and report requirements. Trade unions hope for implementation by September. The finance department is calculating the amount to be declared and the resulting burden.
Approaching PRC and IR Announcement:
In this fiscal year’s budget, Rs 38,627.52 crores have been allocated for employee salary allowances. Monthly expenditure, including salaries and fees, reaches up to Rs 4,500 crore. Even with a 10 percent interim gratuity, an additional financial burden of Rs 300 crore is predicted each month. If implemented from September, an extra Rs 3,600 crore will be needed for the remaining seven months of the fiscal year. Compared to the last fiscal year, the first quarter of this year saw a Rs 943.56 crore increase in salary expenses. Nonetheless, the government is favoring an interim allowance decision for employees.
Implementation Set for Next Month:
With elections approaching, the government is fast-tracking its promises. Pending loan waivers will be completed this month, requiring a payment of Rs 5,000 crores. The finance department faces challenges in raising funds due to Rythu Bandhu subsidies and welfare schemes. Over Rs 10,000 crore is expected from land auctions and ORR contract deposits in the next two months. Employees and pensioners are excited about the upcoming interim salary announcement, adding to the hopeful atmosphere during election time.
