The Congress government in Telangana has chosen the Mahalakshmi Scheme for free travel in RTC buses, cash payments, and gas cylinders for women. However, the scheme faces exploitation.
Counterfeit Scheme Emerges:
Counterfeiters have entered the scene, printing fake Mahalakshmi cards and selling them for 100 rupees each. These fake cards claim to offer RTC free travel, 2,500 rupees per month, and a 500-rupee gas cylinder, deceiving women in villages.
Contents of Fake Cards:
The pink-colored fake cards bear the label “Congress Guarantee Card,” featuring false promises of benefits. They display RTC free travel, monthly payments, and gas cylinder subsidies, with a fabricated signature of Sonia Gandhi. The Congress party symbol and Sonia Gandhi’s photos are also included.
MLA Involvement and QR Code:
The reverse side of the card features the MLA’s photo, party symbol, and a QR code. These fake cards are personalized with the buyer’s name and sold for 100 rupees each.
Truth Unveiled:
The government, under CM Revanth Reddy, has not officially issued any Mahalakshmi cards. Officials emphasize that all observed Mahalakshmi cards in certain areas are fake. The government warns of arrests for those involved in printing and selling counterfeit cards.
