This year, Diwali falls on Sunday, November 12th, leaving both students and employees disappointed. They wish the festival occurred on Saturday or Monday instead. Some schools consider giving a holiday on Monday, the 13th of November, creating a two-day break. However, the government has not provided clarity on this matter yet.
Why Diwali Is Important
Diwali is a significant festival celebrated on November 12th this year. According to Vedic scholars, it aligns with Aswayuja Multi Chaturdashi and Ardarati Amavasya. Diwali festivities begin on the 12th, continuing into the night, marking a time of joy and celebration.
School Holidays in Telangana 2023-24
In Telangana, schools will be open for 229 days in the academic year 2023-24. Additionally:
- Daily yoga and meditation sessions are encouraged.
- The 10th class syllabus must be completed by January 10, 2024.
- 10th class exams are scheduled for March 2024.
- Dussehra holidays are observed from October 13 to 25.
- Sankranti holidays are from January 12 to 17.
- SA 2 exams for classes one to nine will take place from April 8 to 18.
- Summer vacation spans from April 24 to June 11, 2024.
Holidays in Andhra Pradesh 2023-24
In Andhra Pradesh:
- Dussehra holidays are from October 14 to 24.
- Sankranti holidays are observed from January 9 to 18, 2024.
- Missionary Schools have Christmas holidays from December 17 to 26.
- Additional holidays, including Diwali and Ugadi, will be granted according to the respective dates.
