Phased Construction of Indiramma Houses
First Phase: Immediate Construction for Land Owners
The construction of Indiramma houses will unfold in two phases. Initially, a sum of 5 lakh rupees will be granted to individuals who already own land. These beneficiaries will promptly commence house construction using the allocated funds.
Second Phase: Land Allocation for Non-Owners
In the subsequent phase, those without personal land will receive house titles, and funds will be provided for construction. The process of collecting a substantial amount of land for distribution to landless individuals requires time. To expedite housing for those with land, the Congress government decided to grant 5 lakh rupees in the initial phase.
Design Considerations for Indiramma Houses
Variety in Design and Land Challenges
The government has devised three designs for Indiramma houses. However, a logistical challenge arises as houses are ideally constructed in designated areas like colonies. People with existing land may encounter difficulties adhering to fixed designs due to joint families or adjacent vacant lots. The government aims to provide clarity on compatibility issues between individual land shapes and prescribed designs.
Reviving the Indiramma Scheme in Telangana
Congress Commitment and Past Achievements
The Congress government in Telangana has reaffirmed its commitment to the Indiramma Houses scheme for the impoverished. Having successfully implemented the scheme in united Andhra Pradesh between 2004-2014, approximately 19 lakh houses were built in the Telangana region. With the Congress returning to power in Telangana, the revival of the Indiramma scheme is underway to address housing needs for the underprivileged.
