If you are using a free gas connection under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), this is an important update you should not miss. The government is giving a subsidy of ₹300 on LPG cylinders, but to continue receiving this amount directly in your bank account, you must complete a small but important step.

What Is the Latest Update?

The government and oil companies have announced that all PMUY users must complete their eKYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) process before March 31.

If you do not complete this process on time, your LPG subsidy may be stopped. This means you will not receive the ₹300 subsidy in your bank account until your details are verified.

Why Is This Scheme Important?

The Ujjwala Yojana was launched to help poor families, especially women. Its main goals are:

  • To provide clean cooking fuel (LPG)
  • To reduce smoke in kitchens
  • To improve women’s health

Because of this scheme, many families shifted from firewood to gas cooking, making kitchens safer and healthier.

New Rules You Should Know

According to the latest update from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), there are some important rules:

1. Biometric Verification is Mandatory

You must complete Aadhaar-based biometric verification to continue receiving the subsidy.

2. Subsidy Limits

  • ₹300 subsidy is given only for up to 9 cylinders per year
  • After that, no subsidy will be provided for additional cylinders

3. Cylinder Refill Conditions

  • For 14.2 kg cylinders: Subsidy is given from the 8th and 9th refill
  • For 5 kg cylinders: Subsidy is given from the 21st refill onwards

4. Annual KYC Update

You must update your KYC at least once every year. This ensures smooth gas booking and delivery without any issues.

How to Complete eKYC – Step by Step

You do not need to visit any office or gas agency. You can easily complete eKYC from home.

  1. Download the HP Pay mobile app
  2. Login with your registered mobile number
  3. Go to the eKYC section
  4. Enter your Aadhaar details

  5. Your eKYC will be done instantly

Important Deadline
