The Revanth Sarkar government, which assumed power in Telangana, is making significant strides by diligently fulfilling the promises made during the election campaign. Alongside these fulfilled promises, the government has also undertaken important decisions aimed at public welfare.
Implementation of Election Promises
Revanth Sarkar has already implemented most of the six guarantees promised during the election. Among these, a major focus has now been placed on the loan waiver scheme. The government had earlier announced that it would complete the waiver of loans up to ₹2 lakh by August 15. So far, it has successfully waived off a significant portion of these loans, with the third installment also set to be completed by the promised date. With the completion of the loan waiver, the primary remaining assurance is the implementation of the Rythu Bharosa scheme.
Rythu Bharosa: A Key Initiative for Farmers
An interesting development has recently emerged regarding the Rythu Bharosa scheme. The Congress government in Telangana had earlier announced this scheme to provide financial assistance of ₹15,000 per acre as investment support to farmers. Previously, under the BRS government, a similar scheme provided ₹10,000 per acre in two installments. However, the Congress government has increased this amount to ₹15,000 per acre and has also extended the benefits to tenant farmers.
Change in Implementation Strategy
Initially, it was planned to implement the Rythu Bharosa scheme in two phases. However, the government is now considering a revised approach to disburse the entire amount of ₹15,000 in a single installment. This shift in strategy is driven by several factors:
- Delayed Implementation: The Congress government, after coming to power in December last year, was supposed to implement Rythu Bharosa. However, due to financial constraints, the Rythu Bandhu scheme was implemented instead, leading to some dissatisfaction among the farmers.
- Accurate Calculation: To address this discontent, the government is now preparing to launch the Rythu Bharosa scheme in a grand manner, ensuring that each beneficiary farmer receives the investment assistance with precise calculations.
- End of Kharif Season: Considering that the Kharif season is nearing its end, the government believes it would be more beneficial to provide the entire sum of ₹15,000 at once.
Tenant Farmers and Additional Financial Support
The Rythu Bharosa scheme also extends its benefits to tenant farmers, who are entitled to receive ₹15,000 per acre annually. Additionally, an amount of ₹12,000 per acre per year is supposed to be provided to other farmers. However, there has been no official announcement from the government regarding the implementation of these schemes. This lack of communication has led to growing dissatisfaction among farmers.
Awaiting Government Action
Farmers are eagerly waiting for the release of the Rythu Bharosa funds. There is speculation that these funds might be disbursed after August 15. However, an official announcement is awaited to confirm the exact timeline for the release of the funds. Until then, the farming community remains hopeful for timely and effective government action to support their livelihoods.
