Unexpected Downpour Despite the End of Monsoon
Even though the monsoon season has passed, Bengaluru and Mysore were hit by heavy rain on Monday night. The rainfall, continuing for more than six hours, caused significant disruption in various parts of both cities.

Heavy rain led to uprooted trees and water damage to houses in several areas. The downpour started in the evening, accompanied by thunder, and lasted until midnight. Places like Gandhinagar, Devanahalli International Airport, and Jayanagar faced severe waterlogging, leaving people stranded.
Traffic Chaos and Blocked Roads
Many areas experienced flooding, with lower bridges and underpasses becoming impassable. Vehicular traffic was blocked, forcing authorities to install barricades and restrict movement. The underpass in Srirampur resembled a lake due to stagnant water.
Impact on Apartments and Houses
Water seeped into apartments and houses, causing significant problems. Kendriya Vihara Apartments near Kogilu Cross and Kurubarahalli were affected, leaving vehicles and essential items submerged. In Gorgunte Palya, standing water made it impossible to move further.
Government Response and Relief Efforts
Deputy Chief Minister DK took proactive measures. He visited the BBMP war room, gathered information about affected areas, and instructed officials to address the issues promptly. Corporation staff were dispatched to places like Sanjaynagar and Gandhinagar to assist residents. Continuous rain led to numerous complaints, prompting officials to work on solutions.
Hope for Improvement and Precautions
Despite the challenges, officials expressed optimism about weather conditions improving. Precautionary measures were taken to ensure people’s safety, and authorities remained committed to minimizing the suffering of residents in Bengaluru and its surroundings.

Mysore also experienced disruptive heavy rainfall, causing chaos on the roads. From the evening till midnight, heavy rain prevailed, leading to water stagnation in many areas, including KR Circle. Traffic jams and standing water made it difficult for residents to commute.
