Govt’s BIG decision on board exams: To be conducted twice a year

New Rules for Board Exams 2023

The Ministry of Education has introduced new rules for board exams in 2023. Instead of one annual exam, students will now have two chances to take their board exams each year. This change is aimed at helping students achieve better grades. The National Education Policy has brought forth a new curriculum that will be implemented. Textbooks are being prepared for the academic year 2024-25.

Changes in Board Exam Policy

Under the updated curriculum, students in the 11th and 12th grades will be required to study two languages. One of these languages must be an Indian language. Additionally, students in these grades will have the option to select their subjects. They are not limited to subjects within their chosen academic stream. This means they can choose subjects from Arts, Science, Commerce, or others.

Benefits of the New Curriculum

The Ministry of Education emphasizes that studying two languages will aid students in performing well. Conducting board exams twice a year gives students ample time to prepare and perform to the best of their abilities. This approach eliminates the need to memorize syllabi for months leading up to board exams, thus enabling students to enhance their skills. Furthermore, students in 11th and 12th grades are free to choose subjects beyond their academic stream, whether it’s Arts, Science, or Commerce. The Union Ministry of Education expressed these views.

Reward for Top Performers

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has come up with a unique incentive for students who excelled in their class 10 and 12 board exams last year. To motivate these exceptional students even further, the top 10 students from each class were given the special opportunity to experience a helicopter ride. This initiative extends to both state and district level toppers. Bhupesh Baghel explained that this decision was taken to inspire and encourage children. You can find the complete news here.
