Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) Update
New TET Notification Released
The Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) notification has been recently released by the government. The TET exam is scheduled for September 15.
Application Process Details
The application process for TET has begun on August 02 and will end today, August 16. Despite some candidates requesting an extension, it’s unlikely that the application period will be prolonged. Both DED and BED candidates have the opportunity to take the Paper-1 exam, while BED-qualified candidates can also take Paper-2.
Application Statistics
The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) director revealed that by Tuesday evening, they had received 2,50,963 applications. Of these, 74,026 were for Paper-1, 16,006 for Paper-2, and 1,60,931 for both papers. The number of applications surged on Tuesday, with more expected on the last day.
Importance of TET
TET is crucial for aspiring teachers. Qualifying in TET is a requirement for writing the Teacher Recruitment Test (TRT), which fills teacher positions. Candidates with teacher education backgrounds must pass TET.
Application Comparisons
Compared to previous TET exams with over 4 lakh applications, this time saw fewer applicants. Some attribute this to ongoing Gurukula exams in the state. The president of the D.D., B.E.D. Candidates’ Association, Ravula Rammohan Reddy, requested an edit option for TET applications and an extension by a week.
Validity and Candidates
Previously valid for seven years, TET now holds lifetime validity, updated two years ago. There are around two lakh existing TET qualifiers and approximately 20,000 newly completed BED and D.D. candidates. All have the chance to compete with the latest TET.
