Free Electricity for Families
One of the major announcements is providing 200 units of free electricity to each family under the Housing Jyoti Scheme. This initiative is aimed at reducing the financial burden on households.
CM Revant Reddy’s Role
Chief Minister Revant Reddy has been instrumental in the welfare initiatives of the state. On February 27, 2024, he inaugurated the free power scheme, which includes providing a gas cylinder for Rs 500. The scheme started impacting bills from the first week of March.
Implementation of Zero Bills
Special software has been installed to ensure eligible households receive zero bills. This software automatically applies the zero bill based on applications and ration card information. Many households are already benefiting from this initiative.
Housing Jyoti Scheme in Rangareddy Zone
From this month, the Housing Jyoti Scheme will be active for eligible power consumers in the Rangareddy Zone. Zero bills will be issued from June 6 for those using up to 200 units. Applications for the scheme are considered from June 6 onwards.
Conditions of the Scheme
The free electricity scheme applies only if the household’s usage is within 200 units. If consumption exceeds 200 units, the regular billing process will apply, and families will need to pay for their usage beyond the free limit.
